The first round of solo Chinese tourists arrived in Taiwan today! 282 solo tourists from Xiamen, Beijing, and Shanghai are expected. Being in the nearest proximity to Taiwan, people from Xiamen arrived in Taipei and Taichung in the morning via Kinmen.

With a starting bid of 38 million NTD, the price was realized at 55 million NTD by a secret bidder over the phone. Individual tourists are about to start arriving from China. The Mainland Affairs Council said that both sides are aiming at the end of June. The current plan would limit arrivals at 500 per day and be open to residents of Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen. Travelers would be permitted to stay between seven and 15 days.
